A tortilla maker machine can be mass-produced with more efficiency and accuracy with the use of modern automation technology in a food processing facility. Case Herrera is the go-to manufacturer for several well-known American companies, including those in the maize and flour tortilla, bakery, and snack food industries.
Tortilla-Making Process
The pneumatic conveyor initially delivers bulk flour to the weigh hopper during dough mixing. Water and shortening are added to the mixture in the mixer after it have been discharged from the weigh hopper, and the mixture is mixed for a certain amount of time. Following this, the dough is transferred to the divider via a transportation system that the mixer discharges into.
Managing a Complex System
Tomatoes, onions, and peppers all need to be cooked at precisely the right temperature and time when using today’s automated tortilla gear. The product is sticky at the beginning of the process, slippery in the middle, and flexible at the conclusion, requiring extremely specific equipment configurations for each stage. The PAC ensures that the assembly line runs smoothly by regulating all processes.
Simplicity of Operation
You should be able to place a ball of dough on your prepared tortilla press and have the top plate do most of the work for you when you flip it over. The thickness may be adjusted using the lever. After pressing the tortilla, the top plate can be removed without much effort.
Durability
A good tortilla press is an investment that may be passed down through the generations. Your tortilla press should be able to help you make thousands of to stones and flour tortillas without breaking down because of the force required to press them down to the desired thickness.
Footprint
Because there is only so much cabinet space in any kitchen, a decent tortilla press should take up as little room as possible while still doing its job. What’s the point of keeping a bulky tortilla press if it can’t even compete with a smaller, more convenient model?
Aesthetics
You, the student, will have several requirements to fulfil each day. You will probably have to walk from one place to another as these classes are far out. If you’re going to be pressing ten, twenty, or even fifty tortillas in a single day, the handle needs to be ergonomically designed to prevent hand cramps.
Simple to Disinfect
Tortillas are usually pressed in a plastic bag or parchment paper, so your tortilla press shouldn’t get too dirty very quickly. Since sticky dough from tortillas (or flatbreads, roti, empanadas, etc.) will inevitably stick to your tortilla press, it’s essential that your tortilla press be made of a material that can be easily cleaned, especially if it’s made of cast iron.
Experiment
It was made 25 corn tortillas in each press. As the liner, I utilized a brand new freezer bag in the quart size, which I slashed along the seams. I find that using a plastic bag yields a much larger number of tortillas than using parchment paper or wax paper, since the latter absorbs moisture from the dough and reduces the number that can be made from a given amount of dough.
